You are what you breathe – what is air?

Air always surrounds us, but what is it made of?

We have put together an interactive module for school classes to explore the topic of ‘what is in the air?’ With a focus on a few specific air pollutants such as ozone and black carbon, we will communicate the importance of clean air and how everyone can contribute to improving air quality. We will address concepts and questions such as ‘How do air pollutants look?’ ‘What are their sources?’ ‘What are the effects on humans and ecosystems?’ and ‘What role do air pollutants play in climate change?’ The concepts will be explored using pictures, a short film, and an interactive picture search. Finally the module will conclude with a short walk through the city to explore and discuss sources of air pollutants in our direct environment, as well as solutions for improving air quality.
